Problem:
Can the Early Years ICT CD-ROMS be used on individual computers or just whiteboards?
Solution:
The CD-ROMs are specifically designed for children to use the activities on individual machines and whiteboards. All text and instructions can be listened to/repeated using the sound icons available to support independent learning. We have included features that enable full use on the interactive whiteboard with the teacher leading the learning, if you prefer to work in this way.
Problem:
Do I need to purchase a Site Licence?
Solution:
If you want to install the Early Years ICT software on more than one computer OR on to your school network, you must purchase a Site Licence to accompany your single-user CD-ROM. Once you have a Site Licence, then you can use the software on as many computers within your school as required.
Problem:
I have ordered a Site Licence but I haven't received anything
Solution:
We don't send out separate licences – the invoice for your Site Licence serves as proof of purchase and we advise you to keep a copy of this for your records.
Problem:
Is Early Years ICT compatible with all interactive whiteboards?
Solution:
Yes, all our interactive software products are designed to be compatible across all the different makes of whiteboards, including Promethean and Smart boards.
Problem:
What age group is this product suitable for?
Solution:
Early Years ICT delivers the Foundation Stage ICT Curriculum (UK) and is therefore suitable for children aged between 3–5 years. There are two differentitated levels within the resource, to ensure progression of skills across this age range.
Problem:
Do I need to purchase both CD-ROMs?
Solution:
It's up to you – Disc 1 and 2 both cover Nursery and Reception, but they use different topics to teach ICT skills. Lots of schools use both discs.
Problem:
Does the software work on Macs/PCs/RM networks/other?
Solution:
The software is dual platform and will therefore work on PCs and Macs. It is designed to be networked (but can be stand-alone), and will work on RM networks (you may need further support in setting up the product on an RM network.
