Problem:
Can pupils save partially completed assessed activities?
Solution:
No. The assessed activities are short and can easily be completed in a single lesson. As they are assessed, it is appropriate to complete them in a single sitting and the software has been designed to operate in this manner.
Problem:
How do you enable pupils to use multiple years?
Solution:
Create a 'new pupil' for each year required, using a suitable naming convention. The data model assigns a single year for each pupil, so a separate pupil name is needed for each year. A suitable naming convention is to use the pupil's 'standard' name suffixed by the year number; e.g. 'Jo Bloggs' would be registered as 'Jo Bloggs3' for his Year 3 work.
Problem:
Does it cover the QCA Scheme of Work for ICT?
Solution:
Yes – it matches exactly. Each year group is divided into a bank of simple, progressive lessons that cover all the objectives of the QCA Scheme of Work. The objectives are broken down into manageable chunks for you – so you can work in a logical and simple way – and an integrated task is provided at the end of each unit, which covers all the objectives in one fun and open-ended project.
Problem:
Does the software work on Macs/PCs/RM networks/other?
Solution:
The software is dual platform and will therefore work on PCs and Macs. It is designed to be networked (but can be stand-alone), and will work on RM networks (you may need further support in setting up the products on an RM network, but help is at hand from our technical support team – tel: 08456 121454). Whichever system you are running the CDs from, you will need a PostScript printer for the best printing results.
Problem:
Do I need to buy everything in the series?
Solution:
No. The series is designed so that you can pick and choose from the items available to best support individual teachers’ needs. Teachers less confident in delivering ICT lessons can be fully supported with the Teacher’s Book, Pupil Activity Book and Photocopiable Resource Sheets, whilst more confident teachers will be able to work with their own lesson plans and just the CD-ROMs.
Problem:
Will this series fit with my existing plans/schemes?
Solution:
The series follows the QCA Scheme of Work for ICT and therefore sits comfortably with any other scheme or work plan that follows this structure. It can be used to teach, practise and/or assess ICT work – to suit your needs.
Problem:
We have a number of older machines linked up to our server. Will the software work on these?
Solution:

This will depend on the specifications of these machines. Minimum playback requirements for Projector:

Windows:
Pentium II or higher recommended
Windows 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP
32 MB or more of installed RAM

Macintosh:
Power Macintosh Power PC processor (G3 or higher recommended)
Mac OS(r) 8.6 to Mac OS(r) X 10.x
32 MB or more of installed RAM
