It's up to you. This series offers one Teacher's Book for each Assessment Focus. This gives you the flexibility to choose to concentrate on the Assessment Focuses in reading and writing that your students find most challenging. Some schools will opt to purchase materials for a few key AFs – whilst others use the whole range, addressing the different needs of various students throughout Key Stage 3.
Problem:
Why is there only one Student's Book for the series?
Solution:
The Student's Book contains texts to support all 14 Teacher's Books in this series. This means you only need to purchase one set of Student's Books across Key Stage 3 – making this a very cost-effective range of resources.
Problem:
What Levels do the Masterclasses cover?
Solution:
In each Teacher's Book there are 12 Masterclasses, 3 for each of the following Levels (3–4, 4–5, 5–6, 6–7).
Problem:
What are Editable Teacher's Books?
Solution:
For teachers who prefer to work with electronic lesson plans, we can offer the Masterclasses from the Teacher's Book in a Word format – ideal for sharing in larger departments. This also offers the flexibility to edit and adapt the Masterclasses to meet the needs of your students. This version of the Teacher's Book also includes the Student worksheets and Progress Checks in a PDF format. Customers who purchase an Editable Teacher's Book will receive a letter that includes instructions on how to download the Editable Teacher's Book from our website (including a username and password).
Problem:
Can I scan the Student's Book texts to display them on my whiteboard?
Solution:
No. Due to copyright restrictions, no part of the Student's Book can be reproduced without prior permission from Smart Learning Limited.
Problem:
Why are there no activities provided in the Student's Book?
Solution:
The book has been specifically developed so that all activities are included in the Teacher’s Books, giving you total flexibility in how you use the resources in the Student’s Book. Students can also use the photocopiable worksheets to do much of their written work, meaning that the Student’s Book can be reused year-on-year.
Problem:
Do I have to buy the Teacher’s Books to go with the Student’s Book?
Solution:
No. If you prefer, you can just buy the Student’s Book and design your own activities and lessons around the texts. The Teacher’s Books have, however, been specially designed to be used in conjunction with the Student’s Book and most lessons rely on texts provided in the Student’s Book.
