Problem: |
When installing on a Vista operating system the following error message may be displayed:
Unable to save file C:\Windows\DownloadedInstallations\ {025040D1-FF53-41A3-AB68-9B99F1PhonicsDisc1.msi

Solution: |
Microsoft has implemented a feature called User Access Control (UAC) in Vista. Under this new feature even members of the Administrators’ group must work with restricted permissions most of the time. This can cause InstallShield installations to fail, since access to the C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations folder is blocked.
If you have the above error message then try the following fixes:
A. Turn off UAC
- Click on Start
- Click on Control Panel
- Click on User Accounts
- Click the button that says “Turn User Account Control on or off”
- Uncheck the tick box “use user account control (UAC) to help protect your computer”
- Restart the computer
If A does not work:
B. Enable the built-in Admin account:
- Click on Start
- Click on Accessories
- Right Click On “Command Prompt”
- Select “Run as administrator”
- And then type “net user administrator /active:yes” and press Enter
